Today (12th June) is The World Day Against Child Labour
This
day was launched by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in 2002.
The
main aim of this day is to raise awareness and activism to prevent child
labour.

President
Pranab Mukherjee today embarked on a Six-day
visit to Three African nations
(Ghana, Ivory Coast and Namibia)
The
main aim of this visit is to boost trade ties with these countries known for
having "solid political system, where democracy has taken roots".
Important Point Note
: This is the maiden visit of any Indian President to Ghana and Ivory Coast
whereas to Namibia, such a visit comes after two decades.

The

According to the National
Family Health Survey (2015-16), Assam
recorded the highest maternal mortality rate in the country for the
tenth successive year
While
Assam registered 300 maternal deaths per one lakh live births, the national
average was 167.
The
survey also found 46% of Assam's women in the 15-49 age group to be anaemic.

Notified
under the Meghalaya Compulsory
Registration of Marriages Rules (2015), the order states that marriages
must be registered within 60 days from the date of solemnization.
Shiyal
Bet,
an island in Gujarat's Amreli District today
got electricity supply for the first
time, nearly seven decades after independence
With
electricity reaching the island through a 6-km undersea cable, every part of
Gujarat is reportedly now connected to electricity.
The
6,000-strong population on Shiyal Bet had been dependent on kerosene oil lamps
or battery-run lights till now.
The Assam government
has passed a bill which proposes the creation
of a single window clearance system for investors to obtain all the
clearance and no objection certificates online
Meanwhile,
unused government lands will be pooled within 100 days to create a land bank
for considering investment proposals from potential investors.

Telangana

The government today asked the Public Sector Banks (PSBs) to expand the user base under the Atal Pension Yojana
This
comes after several PSBs failed to meet their enrollment targets under the
scheme last fiscal.

SBI managed to enroll 3.3 lakh people against a target of 50 lakh, Punjab
National Bank managed 1.85 lakh against the target 19 lakh.
