Sri Lanka’s New Constitution by November
Sri Lanka’s new draft Constitution could be presented in Parliament before the next budget which would be announced by mid-November this year.


The Maithripala Sirisena government has set in the process of making a new Constitution since January this year.
The aim is to replace the existing 1978 constitution. In the new Constitution, the Prime Minister will hold the supreme executive power.
Pak hand in Pathankot airbase attack :US
US confirms Pakistan’s hand in Pathankot airbase attack and gives evidence.
On January 2, 2016, a heavily armed group attacked the Pathankot Air Force Station, part of the India’s Western Air Command, killing six Indian security personnel.
The US investigation has found that the Facebook groups accessed by the friends of JeM handler Kashif Jaan were related to jihad and JeM.
Indonesian may be world’s oldest person
An Indonesian man who claims to be an incredible 145 years old may be the oldest person in the world ever.
According to the documents recognised by Indonesian officials, Mbah Gotho from Sragen in central Java was born on December 31, 1870.
If the papers are true, that would make him much older than the verified oldest person – Jeanne Calment, 122, of France .
China’s cargo train to Russia
China launched a cargo train service from Guangzhou city to Russia to boost trade as part of its multi-billion dollar project to revive ancient silk routes.
The train will travel 11,500 km over 14 days.
Its cargo includes garments, shoes, hats, cloth, lamps & lanterns, electrical appliances, & electronics.
New cargo train service saves 30 days compared with shipping services.
6th Tokyo International Conference
Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) is a conference with the objective “to promote high-level policy dialogue between African leaders & development partners.
Japan is a co-host of these conferences.
It will be the 1st-ever TICAD Summit to be held in the Africa in its history of 20 years.
TICAD plan to discuss issues like Industrialization, Health, & Social stability.
China launches aircraft engine maker
China has set up a state-owned aircraft engine maker with registered capital of 50 billion yuan ($7.5 billion).
The new company, called China Aero-Engine Group and with 96,000 employees, will focus on designing, manufacturing & testing of aircraft engines.
China’s cabinet, Beijing municipal govt., the Aviation Industry Corp of China (AVIC) & Commercial Aircraft Corp of China are investors.
Pakistan to host 19th SAARC Summit
Pakistan is going to host the 19th SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) Summit in Islamabad & Murree on November 9-10, 2016.
The 18th SAARC Summit was held in Kathmandu, Nepal in November 2014.
The SAARC Summit Cell is headed by Ambassador Amjad Sial, who is a senior diplomat and nominee of the Government of Pakistan as the next Secretary General of SAARC.

PM holds talks with Myanmarese President
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held extensive talks with Myanmarese President U Htin Kyaw to bring a new momentum in bilateral ties between the two neighbours.
This was the first top-level engagement between the two countries.
He arrived in the Buddhist pilgrimage town of Gaya on Saturday where he visited the Mahabodhi Temple
Centre proposes a unique ID for health
Centre has proposed another set of unique identification numbers to track the beneficiaries of the National Health Protection Scheme (NHPS)
NHPS aims to provide Rs 1 lakh cover to people below the poverty line (BPL).
The scheme is meant primarily to take care of in-patient expenditure through empanelled hospitals, including private hospitals and will cover close to 1,600 treatment procedures.

SN Subrahmanyan: Next L&T chief
Larsen & Toubro’s head AM Naik said that SN Subrahmanyan, who is currently deputy managing director and President, will take over as his successor from October 1, 2017.
The appointment announcement of Subrahmanyan has come in the 71st annual general meeting.
Subrahmanyan is a management graduate also holds Civil Engineering in his curriculum besides being the youngest member on L&T’s board

Four athletes get RG Khel Ratna award
Four athletes, including Olympic silver medallist P.V. Sindhu, gymnast Dipa Karmakar, shooter Jitu Rai and Olympic bronze medallist Sakshi Malik received the Rajiv Khel Ratna award.
Fifteen sportspersons were honoured with the Arjuna Award and three with the Dhyan Chand Award.
President Pranab Mukherjee presented the awards at a sports awards ceremony in New Delhi.

Doha Bank opens branch in Kerala
Qatar’s based Doha Bank has opened a branch, the Kerala’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the branch.
Doha Bank is one of the largest commercial banks in the State of Qatar. It was incorporated in 1978.
It commenced its domestic and international banking services in Doha, Qatar on March 15, 1979.
Mahindra to track vehicles information
(M&M) announced Mahindra DiGiSENSE, a technology solution that connects Mahindra range of pick up vehicles, tractors, trucks & construction equipment to the cloud.
It enables vehicle owners to access vital information about their vehicles on a real-time basis sitting far away.
Mahindra has become the first OEM in India to integrate its product line-up onto a cloud-based technology platform.
